Feed and Care Support Program

Not every child we serve lives at Heaven's Home or is enrolled in a formal program. Some are children we meet where they already are, in informal settlements, around small trading centers, in corners of the community that formal services often overlook. The Feed and Care Support Program exists for exactly these children: a way to show up consistently, bring something real to eat, and remind them that someone sees them.

On outreach days, our team visits these communities directly, distributing simple, nourishing food, bread and a drink, sometimes more, depending on what we're able to gather, and spending real time with the children while they eat. It's a small act on paper, but in practice it's often the most consistent, reliable meal some of these children get. Just as important as the food itself is the time spent alongside them: sitting together, talking, letting a child feel like an adult actually wants to be there, not just drop something off and leave.

This program also serves as an entry point into our other work. Through these visits, our team gets to know children and families who may benefit from our Education Support, Health & Nutrition, or Child Protection programs, but who we'd never have reached otherwise. A shared meal often opens the door to a conversation that leads somewhere far more significant, a referral, a follow-up visit, a family connected to support they didn't know existed.

We keep this program intentionally simple and consistent. It doesn't require a child to be formally enrolled anywhere, doesn't require paperwork, and doesn't ask anything of the children we meet, it's presence and care, offered without conditions, in the places where it's needed most.

Key Activities:

• Regular community outreach visits to underserved areas and informal settlements
• Direct distribution of food and drinks to children in these communities
• Spending structured time with children during feeding visits, not just distribution
• Identifying children and families who may benefit from referral to our other programs
• Building consistent, trusted relationships with communities outside our formal program reach
• Coordinating outreach logistics and supply sourcing for each visit

Expected Outcomes:

• Reliable access to food for children in underserved communities, even outside formal enrollment
• Stronger trust and relationships between Heaven's Home and communities we don't yet formally serve
• Increased referrals of at-risk children and families into our broader program network
• Greater visibility into the needs of children who would otherwise remain unreached
• A tangible, immediate sense of care and attention for children facing daily hardship
